The book of Acts and the experience of the Church shows two ways to receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit:
a. Personally and directly.
b. Through prayer, with or without imposition of hands.
The necessary condition is receiving Jesus as personal Savior and Lord. We read in Acts 2:38, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” and then to receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is a matter of faith.
Recall the following facts in the word of God:
1. (Acts 2:11-14): The Holy Spirit has already been given at Pentecost and
is in the world ever since. We can only receive the Baptism in
the Holy Spirit (if we are true Christians and lives in us
Romans 8: 9.16, Galatians 4:6) and appropriating by faith the promise.
God is more interested in each of us receives the power
the Spirit is more, it sends (Ephesians 5:18).
2. (Acts 2:38-39): Any person who is already saved by faith in Christ is
eligible to receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. The promise of the Father is
for every believer.
3. (Acts 5:32) It is necessary to waive a provision of sin and obedience to God.
It means that one has already reached a high level of spirituality
or a saint either, but have the desire and willingness. It is saying to God: “Heavenly Father, I’m your property. I’ve bought
with the blood of Christ. I recognize that you are my absolute owner. Do what
you want from me. ”
This is crucial to receive the Baptism in the Spirit. Some aspect of life without paying is what prevents many blessing. The Lord sees our heart, and if it is sincere, we baptize
his spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit, then, will be an additional power to live in victory over sin.
4. (John 7:37-39) Notice the condition: “If anyone is thirsty.” Be thirsty
is strongly desired. It is not happy with the current situation.
You want the Baptism with the Holy Spirit as an absolute necessity.
If you feel that desire and need, but do not understand all things, the blessing is very close.
5. (Luke 11:13) Jesus is very clear: if we ask, we shall receive. If asked to be baptized with the Holy Spirit, He will.
6. (Mark 11:24): Receiving by faith “I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” No matter how absolute the promises of God, only if we receive them. The Bible also says, “if we ask anything according to his will,
He hears us, (and God’s will be baptized with the Holy Spirit). And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we did “(1 John 5:14-15).
Model of preaching on the topic:
Receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit now.
Read Acts 19:1-6
You must believe that is for today, for all believers and that God wants to give:
“The promise is for you … for all that He shall call.” Acts 1:4, 2:39.
Ephesians 5:18 says … “Be filled with the Spirit.” No one wants to give but an order. We receive orders (not optional).
… Give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him. ” Luke 11:13
Paul: a laid hands on him Acts 9:17 and laid hands to other Acts 19:6
Peter and Cornelius: (no laying on of hands) but they spoke in tongues and praising God “Acts 10:44-46.
Languages: (Make a brief explanation): Speak in faith the words that come to mind, given by the Holy Spirit.
What to do?
Repent: Make prayer of repentance and renunciation.
Surrender: (Example: give all the keys to all the rooms of the house)
Request: Ask and you shall receive … Luke 11:9 … if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
1 Juan5 :14-15.
Believe
Receive
Let them pray a prayer and giving thanks for receiving it (people are guided to repeat a prayer from their seats)
Then pray the preacher with laying on of hands to people they wish and come forward. (Those who have not received or the imposition of hands needed to increase their faith in receiving it or receiving it this way if you have not yet received).
